Shots are a pain...literally

4-19-12: Well today was a big day for baby Skyler. Daddy and I took him for his 2 month shots. Skyler seemed to be more prepared to get his shots than mommy did. We arrived at the hospital, and Skyler was as content as he usually is. First he was given a liquid remedy that was to help with his digestive tract. He just laid back and drank it like it was candy. We then laid him on the table to give him 3 injections, that total 5 different shots. He got one needle in one thigh, and 2 in the other. Daddy recorded the event, which is posted under videos. It is quite sad. Skyler screamed as he was poked, but then it only took about 15 sec when it was all done for him to be content again. Daddy and I were quite impressed and thought... "well this isn't so bad". Ha ha ha... He slept for about 3-4 hrs and woke up at about 6. You could just tell he was in so much pain, as he'd cry. I quickly ran to the store for some medicine, and we took turns rocking him. We expected a very rough night and were going to switch off. Much to our surprise though he fell asleep at 8 and didn't wake up til 2. Even then he fed, then fell right back to sleep for 3 1/2 more hours. then slept again until 8. We were so happy to get the rest we needed. And Skyler is once again a happy boy:)

Skyler Takes his First Vacation to Idaho! End of March '12

Grandma and Grandpa came down March 17 to see Skyler for the first time. We were all so excited and had so much fun. I decided to head back home with them so that Skyler can meet the rest of the family. Unfortunately daddy had to work and couldn't come. We spent the first few nights in Utah seeing Aunt Kristy and Blair for a bit the first night. Then Brandon and Whitney had their turn. We took a walk to the duck pond to feed the ducks, and Skyler enjoyed that with cousin Elli.

After Utah we headed to Idaho and spent the next few days seeing Gma and Pa Mason and Plott, Jeff Kathern, cousins Ashlyn, Kenzie, Aleigha, Great Gma Meyers, aunt Sherry  and Cousins Zander and Felicia. Even met Mommies friends Miranda Jones and Larissa King. Then when all was over I drove my old car that dad fixed up all the way back home. I was nervous but Skyler slept the WHOLE WAY!!! Although most the trip was running around and spent driving, we were so glad to meet everyone :)

Adjusting to parenthood

Being a parent is close to what was expected. Lots of diaper changing, feeding, sleeping, and some crying every now and then. I never thought that I would adjust to being a mom so quickly. Before I was terrified of holding a baby at all, let alone putting their fragile bodies in outfits and changing their diapers. But the moment I held Skyler in my arms, motherhood kicked in and suddenly I was supermom. Daddy and I have so much love for Skyler, and being parents was the best move we could ever make. He is such a good boy, rarely even fussy. It seems the most difficult changes were sleep deprivation and the effect it had on my relationship with Travis. There didn't seem to be much time for each other, but thankfully we are starting to get a balanced routine and making time for the things we want. With lots of help from family and friends, we were able to transition well into becoming a family, and now that we are on our own, we are enjoying the parenthood experience.
