Born to be Wild!

July 12, 2012: The Plott boys headed out friday night to tackle the verocious hike of mount borah. They had a bit of a rocky sleep, but that didn't keep them from starting early Saturday morning.  Not easy by any means, they traveled 3.5 miles up 5262 ft. The mountain totals an elevation of 13000 ft. We had our doubts how well they would make out, but it turns out they are all born to be wild! they made it to the top, past chicken out ridge where they relished over the accomplishment.  Although some knees were sore and tender they all arrived home safely Saturday evening in one piece. Meanwhile the kids all stayed with Kandra and I
in Chubbuck. Us girls had a great time at the park, and staying up late chatting about life. My parents, Jeff and his family were all able to come up Saturday as well to take me and Skyler out on the town. We went to the zoo, and did a little shopping. Then that evening had dinner with Travis after he returned. It was a great little vacation!

Happy 4th!!!

7-4-12: One year ago today Travis and I found out I was pregnant, and this year we got to spend the 4th of July with Baby Skyler! It was so much fun, Radlee got to come down as well. The 4th is the biggest holiday in Blanding, I think a lot to do with all the men who serve in the military here. There's a softball tournament that goes til 4:30 am, breakfast at 7:30 am, parade, booths, volleyball, diving for dollars, melodramas, concerts, fireworks, and more. As for the Plott family, we started our morning at the breakfast after riding our bikes to the park. Afterwards, we made a few pit stops before heading home and waiting for the parade. The parade was lots of fun, they have all sorts of tractors, floats, bike gang, and the funnest is lots of water spraying. The kids love getting soaked by the water truck. We were able to watch the parade with our friends, and Skyler was passed around just enjoying the nice weather. After the parade, we had some lunch and watched The Tower Heist while Skyler took a nap. We also enjoyed a few homemade bombs that Radlee made (sorry Vern ha ha). Then we decided to head to the Simpsons. Laurie Simpson is my visiting teacher, and her family has been really helpful watching Skyler on short notice. We sat and chatted with them for awhile and got an idea of a good place to go hiking. So Travis, Radlee, and I headed up the mountain to find this trail. Long story short, we ended up roaming around and didn't find the trail until on our way back home. We also found some wild turkeys, so you know what that means. Yup, the boys got out with the camera and spent the next 15 minutes chasing turkeys trying to get pictures. As you can see the pics turned out soooo well... but they said it's the memory that counts. After that silliness we left to pick up Skyler. The Simpsons then invited us to dinner. The food was AMAZING!!! They had all sorts of salads and desserts, but the best was the meat. They had steak that was to die for, as well as BBQ chicken, salmon, and crab. After stuffing our faces, we headed home for the night. Skyler was exhausted so we put him to bed, and the rest of us shot off a few more bottle rockets and watched the fireworks. Thursday was a little less fun, and a little more work. It's sad that we recruit family to help with the house, but Radlee is great at texturing. So since our room was a mess after tearing down wallpaper and popcorn ceiling, the boys mudded and textured. Then before Radlee had to go home we made another quick trip out to nowhere so we could shoot his "gun". Skyler even helped. He stands no chance.... :) Sadley we had to send Radlee home, but we had such a great time!!!

Plott trip to Lagoon

Well our trip didn't quite start out as planned. I spent all day Friday getting things packed and ready to go in the car. Once Travis got off work we were on the road headed to Jackson and Rachel's to stay the night. We were on the road by 6, and planned on arriving about 11 pm. We were halfway between Monticello and Moab when my car broke down! We were lucky to be in a spot with service. After a phone call to my dad, we were pretty certain the fuel filter was the problem. Well since we live in the middle of nowhere, an auto part store that was open was out of the question. Most places close at 6, especially on Friday. So several calls later we got a hold of Lindsay and Marty Pulido, our friends in Blanding. Our car sat long enough that we were able to make it to Monticello. Lindsay then came and picked us up. She was so sweet, she called her husband and had him check their insurance, then without hesitation offered us their car to take. By the time we got home it was almost 11pm, so we decided to take a quick bedtime. Then at 5:15 we got up and ready, and were once again on the road by 6am. We arrived at lagoon a little after 11am. We were so excited to be out of the car and ready to see family.

We started at Laguna Beach and did some swimming.

Then taking turns we were able to go on some rides as well.

Overall it was a great day! Jackson and Rachel were able to join us, even though they just got off work, and had to work again that night. We stayed most of the night, enjoying a fun musical show that reminded Travis and I a lot of glee. I even got to continue my tradition and played a putt game that landed me the Big Prize! Afterwards, those who stayed enjoyed a good dinner with a root-beer keg.

I thought that was awesome. Then that night Travis and I headed to Brandon and Whitney's where we watched This Means War. It's a funny movie. Then Sunday we spent more time with them and Ellie before we finally made our long trip home.

Father's Day!

Well things have been going great since the near-death experience. I'm feeling tons better, and my wonderful Travis has been a great help. Summer is going great so far, we've already managed to make it to some pot lucks and bbq's. Not only that, but its yard sale time and I recently struck gold!!! I got a dresser, coffee table, couch, dining table with 4 chairs all for $100! It was a great deal and I'm excited to make them all go from drab to FAB. Skyler is also 4 months old today, and I can't believe how big he is getting. I'm loving every moment. We'll be making a 4 month video tomorrow on Dads day off, so keep an eye out for that. On another note, I gotta give a shout out to all the wonderful men in my life this Father's Day. Although I'll be spending it playing cards with the women, while Travis enjoys a game with the men, I declare the men in my life to be the bestest! I've got a father-in-law who is awesome, a loving grandpa, a dad who seems to be great at everything, and a loving husband. Grandpa you are the greatest, it isn't very common for a grandpa to wear costumes or to act so silly, but Grandma trained you well! To my dad, I love you so much! It seems whenever we're in a bind, or need a fix it man, you're always there. You have always been a great example in the church and as a father and dad. I miss you very much (and not just because our house is in need of more fixing...) To Travis, you are the best choice and decision I have ever made. Because of you I am a happy and loved woman with the cutest little boy that will someday exemplify all your wonderful qualities. Life just continues to be better and blessed. I love all of my family/extended family!
